Here’s a byzantine flowchart of underground bands in Bloomington, Indiana from 1979-1997.

The 90-min video that accompanies this chart is here, which is sort of an Our Band Could Be Your Life, Bloomington, IN edition. There are some great bands in this “documentary” (Dancing Cigarettes! Walking Ruins!), some way old footage of MX-80, a host (Eric Spears) using broken hedge clippers as a pointer, and tons and tons of amateur music videos and live clips from really good (or at the very least interesting) bands I’ve never heard of. Great public-access stuff.

It’s always great to see this pop up now and again; it’s such a unique thing regardless of one’s actual connection to Bloomington.
